Thames Valley Property Awards
& Gala Dinner
14th May, 2015
ASCOT RACECOURSE, BERKSHIRE
About the Thames Valley Property Awards
The Thames Valley is the UK’s third largest property region by activity and value after London’s West End and City of London. Historically acting as a release valve as London’s property market expanded and contracted, over the past decade the Thames Valley has emerged as a European location in own right. The Thames Valley Property Awards will celebrate this diversity and recognise the particular characteristics of this special region.
The awards initiative, and now in it’s second year and the first of its kind for the region’s commercial property sector, has been well received by agents, developers, architects, occupiers and others involved in the industry. And the timing couldn’t be better – as the sector is bouncing back after years of downturn, with investment companies now going back into property, and “spec build” once again starting in the Thames Valley.
Nominations for 2015 will open on December 3rd, but you can book your seats at the gala dinner on Thursday May 14th 2015, due to be held at Ascot Racecourse. Applications for tickets and further information requests should be directed to Amy Charles or Linda Morse firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the TVPA website.

From our Reading base at the Madejski Stadium, London Irish is keen to be associated with the Thames Valley Property Awards as we see ourselves as being at the heart of the Thames Valley sporting scene. Many property professionals attend and support the team on a regular basis and we are keen to build on this association throughout the 2013/2014 Premiership season. We have donated some prizes for the winners and hope that this will be the start of long-term association with the Thames Valley Awards for London Irish.
Egi Data and its sister publication Estates Gazette are pleased to be associated as the Research Partner for this first Thames Valley Property Awards. Using the extensive database collected over many years as the most popular property journal in the UK, EGi Data is in a unique position to provide statistical evidence for the Awards to ensure that nominations are correct and reflect the real activity in the Thames Valley region. We hope that it is successful, as we are keen to support this regional event and the many property companies, which use and support EGi/Estates Gazette in the Thames Valley.
The dinner will raise funds for Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice, which will be TVPA’s official charity.
Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service now funds Alexander’s Nurses who support families across Berkshire in their own homes, providing much needed respite, palliative care, emotional and practical support. We are working towards building Berkshire’s very own children’s hospice for these local families, which will be supported by a home, care team.
Our ethos is that the child is central to everything that we do. We work in partnership with families and local hospitals so that we can provide ‘joined-up’ support that really benefits each and every family. We always listen and learn so that we can deliver a flexible service, which meets their changing needs.
Parents who understand what these families are experiencing founded our charity. We feel privileged to be supporting these exceptional children and their families.
Business Park of the Year – Sponsored by Peter Brett Associates
The Thames Valley has been synonymous with the creation and management of business parks as a location of choice for businesses across the region. This Award will celebrate the ability of the developer, owner or business park management team to market the business park by new initiatives, maintain high occupancy levels, and consistently receive positive feedback from tenants in the shape of KPI’s or similar. Judges will be looking for a clear demonstration of the ability of the Business Park to fulfill the criteria. As part of this process, EGi will be providing additional support information, which will help decide on the winner.
Property Consultancy of the Year (firm) – Sponsored by SEGRO
After London, the Thames Valley is the next largest property market in the UK by volume of deals and density. This award will be given to the Property Consultancy that has completed the most commercial deals in the office sector across the region and has enjoyed the highest levels of tenant deals during the 12 month period from January to December 2013. To support entries, we shall be using EGi Data, part of the Estates Gazette group, to provide the judges with information on deals done alongside information from the individual nominations.
Industrial & Logistics Property Consultancy of the Year- Sponsored by Jansons Property
Working with EGi Data, part of Estates Gazette group, this Award will use objective information gathered from their extensive industry-leading database on all the deals within the Thames Valley region by postcode. The award will be given to the Property Consultancy that has completed the most industrial/logistics deals across the region and has enjoyed the highest levels of tenant deals during the 12 month period from January to December 2013.
Commercial Property Deal of the Year-Sponsored by Haslams
This Award will celebrate a ‘deal ‘ or transaction that by its size, importance or location put a smile on everyone’s face in the Thames Valley. In markets such as the Thames Valley ‘feel good’ deals often provide the confidence and momentum to ensure that the region remains buoyant and relevant. As part of this process, EGi will be providing additional support information, which will help decide on the winner.
Real Estate Executive-Sponsored by Jelf
This Award will look at the role of the in-house real estate executive or public sector employee or in-house advisor who has demonstrated the implementation of best practice and shown how a decisive property strategy can affect the Main Board decisions and ultimately improve productivity. Judges would like to see nominations from property consultants and suppliers who work with real estate executives and can reflect the criteria requested in their submission.
House Builder of the Year-Sponsored by Pitmans
Successful house building in the Thames Valley has to be aware of environmental issues, a need for community engagement, create real economic benefit and show how good design can create places where people want to live, both young and old. The Judges are looking for a Thames Valley house builder that incorporates all of these aspects into its completed schemes and consistently receives positive feedback from its customers.
Town of the Year-Sponsored by Barton Willmore
We are looking for a Town and its management team (and advisors) that has implemented a successful town centre strategy, which has enhanced the town’s brand. This could be by improving its transportation links, implementing a regeneration plan that has created opportunities for economic growth or a major new property investment which has changed the course of the Town. The judges are aware that the region is the sum of its parts and therefore evidence of cross Borough and County collaboration is also an important measure of success. Entrants need to show that that they have adopted a clear strategy for improvement that has enhanced the Town over an extended period of time.
Development of the Year-Sponsored by Hicks Baker
Celebration of a ‘future’ commercial project (office, mixed use or industrial building) that has been recently completed or has funding and planning consent to be built in the Thames Valley. Judges will be looking at the developers’ ability to create an exciting new development, which matches industry standards but will be seen as a real addition to the Thames Valley. Entrants should cover in no more than 4 A4 pages the following criteria:
Value and Specification
Sustainability & Green Issues
Approach and Unique Selling Point (USP)
Workplace Environment-Sponsored by Optima
Exciting workplaces and successful businesses go to together. The region is home to many companies across the digital, telecoms, pharmaceutical, professional and financial sectors. Open to any company from any business sector, this award seeks to reward those companies that have used their property strategy to create new working styles, increased productivity, innovative working environments and open, inclusive work cultures. Judges will want to see how the design of the workplace was approached and how it has created genuine productivity gains for the business. Entries can be made by the occupier, or by one of the advisory or design team with comment from the client.

The Business Magazine has been successfully organising awards events for the past two decades. UK Property Forums has gained a strong reputation for its expertise in the conference and events sector. Together they are staging the Thames Valley Property Awards (TVPA). Supporting the awards are EGi, London Irish Rugby Club and the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Charity.
David Murray, publisher and managing director of The Business Magazine and Matthew Battle, director of UK Property Forums recently commented:
“We have launched the Thames Valley Property Awards at a time when confidence is returning to the commercial property sector. The Thames Valley office deals have a hit a new high in Q3 2013, and there is no doubt that investment is coming back in a significant way, we are now seeing spec build again too – a sure sign that confidence has returned.
“The Awards will reflect this renewed optimism – providing a showcase for the best deals, developers, advisers and schemes in the region. It will be an exciting event and we expect a packed gala night with all the leading players networking on the night. We hope to see you there!”
Indicated on the map is the scope of the geography for the TVPA categories and post codes which cover a broad area from Newbury, Oxford, Banbury, Basingstoke and Heathrow.
