Nahid Majid OBE

Chief Operating Officer, Regeneration Investment Organisation RIO UK Trade and Investment UKTI

Nahid is a Town Planner/Urban Designer and has worked across the public and private sectors, leading on large scale capital infrastructure projects in the UK and internationally including City Challenge programmes, The Prince of Wales Foundation for the Built Environment, before joining the private sector as Associate Director heading Regeneration at Turner and Townsend (Construction), and was a member of the Legacy Working group for the winning London Olympic 2012 bid.

Nahid went from the construction industry into Government as Director of Area Initiatives leading on the £70 million UK City Strategy Pathfinders, represented London in the allocation of £60 million European Structural Funds with Government Office for London and the European Commission in Brussels and was Director of Programmes for The Mayors Fund for London.  Prior to joining UK Trade and Investment UKTI (Government) Nahid was Director of CABE; Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment. She joined UKTI in April 2013 as Chief Operating Officer and set up a new Regeneration Investment Organisation within UKTI which aims to provide a credible pipeline of major UK regeneration projects £100m-£4 bn plus to market to sovereign wealth funds and overseas investors.

Nahid was awarded an OBE in 2006, was recognised in 2012 by Planning Magazine as top 20 UK eminent Town Planners and is a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute for Leadership. She has chaired a number of Government Working Groups and is an active volunteer and mentor.
