Construction firm is building community links

Local construction firm Mick George, already well known for its community support programmes, is contributing financial support to eight different ventures in the regions in which the company operates.

It may be that the plans involve events, projects and developments usually associated with summer, but the hope is that warmer weather is on the way and, in any case, festival-goers are well know for being adaptable. Many of the activities volunteer-led and as such heavily reliant on financial and service support to ensure they take place.

The events are:
• Icknield Primary School, Sawston: Nature Hotel project
• St Neots Rowing Club Regatta
• Sawtry Carnival
• Needingworth Music Festival
• Greyt Greyhound Picnic fun day, Spalding
• Ellington Gala
• Deeping Raft Race, Market Deeping
• Huntingdon Carnival.

Jon Stump, finance director at Mick George, said: “The sheer volume of applicants for sponsorship assistance from our business highlights just how difficult it is for these often charity or volunteer led initiatives to generate the finances required to host such events.
“The enjoyment that the attendees get from these events shows the true value of each to the respective local communities. Large volumes of spectators, participants and passers-by will benefit from the selected initiatives, which makes it all the more worthwhile to us. We hope that our support enhances the experience.”

There are four local sponsorship rounds each year for applicants to submit entries for consideration. The next funding stage will be ending at the end of June. To issue your request, click here to visit the Mick George website.
